Board of Health Minutes <br />September 19, 2019 <br />2 of 3 <br />Public Comment closed at 10:18 am <br />Department updates <br />Administrator update <br />Jesse Cox stepped to the microphone to give the administrator report on behalf of Tristen Lamb. Mr. Cox <br />updated the board on the following items: <br />• Severe lung disease associated with vaping <br />o There were clarifying questions from the board regarding the data that is being collected <br />by the state <br />• Contracts and amendments <br />o New grant cycle for tobacco funding between KCPHD and Benton Franklin Health <br />District <br />o New grant cycle for Solid Waste Enforcement Funding (LSWFA) <br />o Renewal of the Interlocal agreement with KVFR for the syringe exchange command <br />vehicle <br />+ Staff Updates <br />o The Health Promotion Supervisor position received three internal applicants. Interviews <br />were conducted September 13th. Chelsey Loeffers was offered and has accepted the <br />position. <br />o Environmental Health Specialist feasibility assessment will be done to determine the <br />need to fill the current vacancy. <br />Department Updates <br />• KCPHD held three different school vaccination clinics with Ellensburg, Cle Elum-Roslyn, and <br />Kittitas School Districts. <br />• The annual drive thru flu clinic is scheduled for October 25th, lam to noon. <br />o An upper county flu clinic is scheduled the following day, October 26th, hosted by KVH <br />Urgent Care in Cle Elum. <br />• A team representing the Kittitas County Resilience and ACEs Task Force was selected for a <br />statewide leadership development program, put on by the Washington State Department of <br />Health's Essentials for Childhood. <br />Health Officer U da#e <br />No Health Officer update given. <br />Business <br />Environmental Health Updates, Policies and Outstanding Health Order(s) <br />Jesse Cox discussed the following Environmental Health Updates: <br />• A new soil lab policy has been created, with the assistance of stakeholders, to assist with the <br />resolution of contested septic site evaluation and soil log results. <br />• A mobile food truck procedure and agreement has been created to allow food trucks in Kittitas <br />County to safely park the vehicle in a location other than the approved commissary kitchen. <br />• New technologies are being developed in the OSS field that will help smaller lots be granted <br />variance approval for septic systems. <br />• Lucy Garcia is the new lead food inspector, and is working on efficiency measures when doing <br />plan reviews and paperwork. <br />Some of the environmental health specialists are planning to take the Registered Sanitarian exam. <br />+ Nirvana Inn and Grill was issued a health order the weekend of Labor Day. The issues were <br />resolved and the health order was rescinded within 2 weeks. <br />
