The pending District improvements are welcome in Kittitas County. Upon completion,
the facilities will enable complete buildout of the Snoqualmie Pass area generating
significant additional tax revenue for the County. Additional water rights are being made
available in the County as SPUD extracts water from an adjacent basin west of the
Cascade divide and processes it for release into the Yakima Basin. Fully treated effluent
introduced into a Bull Trout listed stream is good for County fish recovery and habitat.
FISCAL IMPACTS:
SPUD is requesting $250,000 in 2020 Public Facility Fund grant funding. Wastewater
treatment plants are specifically identified for funding in RCW 82.14.370 (EXHIBIT 1).
ATTACHMENTS:
Exhibit 1: Revised Code of Washington 82.14.370.
PUBLIC WORKS BOARD OF COUNTY CONMSSIONERS WORK SESSION STAFF REPORT
