Road Name Policy
All rural roads will be assigned one name for its entire continuous length, regardless of ownership. If the
road is broken by intervening land use, each portion will be assigned a separate independent name, The
figure below illustrates the correct name placement for roads located in rural areas.
51iTH P.D. surrH Ao.
110- JONES RD,
A road located within an existing grid, such as the City of Ellensburg and the surrounding Urban Growth
Area, should have only one name for its entire length. If it is not a through street but is broken by
intervening land uses, and is laid out at a distance point in similar location, the same name would be
used. in cases of this nature when approval of new subdivision is considered, the grid system indicates
street names needed. The figure below illustrates the correct name placement of roads located in an
addressing grid.
Assessors Plat Map
The Kittitas County Assessor's plat maps should not be used as an accurate resource for identifying road
names. Plat maps often show private roads that were not constructed, duplicate road names, or road
names that have been changed. The establishment of a private road name must follow the department
of Public Works road naming standards and be approved by the Public Works Director.
New Road Name Application Process
F
