Response 2.3: By reviewing our guest register and through verbal interaction with guests, we know
Evidence * that visitors come from outside of the state and internationally.
Of these, 5% of our guests between January 1 and July 31, 2019 have been
international visitors. We have had visitors from Australia, Brazil, Canada, China,
Croatia, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico,
Mongolia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Scotland, South Africa,
Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and Zambia.
Visitors from other US States have totaled 44% of those who signed the guestbook
were from 50+ miles away. These states were Arkansas, California, Colorado,
Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts,
Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, New
Mexico, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island,
South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Vermont,
Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
While our advertising is directed toward the Seattle -Tacoma area market and
Eastern Washington, along with Portland, Oregon, social media marketing is wider
spread through organic posts and shares. By engaging those around the
community, word of mouth is spread about the museum making us a destination
instead of an add-on. Through also participating in local events and activities,
including having exhibits, we add a value to ongoing efforts and activities which
might draw people into the Museum or add to their experience.
