The SSAP traditionally has provided 24 vouchers to literally or immediately homeless seniors, <br />and with this proposal would add to a scarce resource for seniors by increasing the number of <br />available vouchers for vulnerable seniors. The increase in rent assistance vouchers would clear <br />the current waitlist of seniors who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. It would not <br />alleviate the future need as there are more than additional 70 seniors identified as potentially <br />eligible for subsidized rent and who are at risk presently, that number will increase dramatically <br />over the next ten years up to 1000 senior households below the poverty line. <br />❑ Promotion of private landlord usage of Section 8 rental vouchers. <br />❑ Programs which increase access to affordable home ownership <br />
