Consistent
with the previous traffic study, the following tasks were completed:
· Documented trip generation
· Distributed project trips onto Huntzinger Road
· Assessed the need for turn pockets on Huntzinger Road along the project frontage
· Assessed operations of the proposed access
Trip Generation
The trip generation estimates for the proposed Vantage Bay PUD development were based on methodology
documented in the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Trip Generation Manual, 9th Edition for land use
code (LUC) 210 (Single-Family Detached Housing), LUC 230 (Residential Condominium/Townhouse), LUC
260 (Recreational Homes), and LUC 330 (Resort Hotel).
The trip generation estimates for the proposed winery use was based on an activities based approach and
information provided by the applicant, which included the number of employees and anticipated arrival and
departure times as well as anticipated customer and delivery activities.
Project trips were estimated for both a typical weekday and a Saturday.
Table 1
Trip Generation Summary
Trips Generated
Time Period In Out Total
Weekday Daily 512 513 1,025
Weekday AM Peak Hour 37 40 77
Weekday PM Peak Hour 48 47 95
Saturday Daily 650 649 1,299
Saturday Peak Hour 114 101 215
As shown in Table 1, the greatest number of peak hour trips is estimated to occur on a Saturday.
