• Clinics at CWU, Ellensburg High School and CleElum High School
• Masterclasses at CWU
• Performances at EHS
• Provided free concerts in the Central Washington University Music Department
Recital Hall
In 2012, we started offering scholarships to students wanting to major in Jazz studies at
CWU . We currently provide a $1000 scholarship to an incoming students and a $500
scholarship to a returning student.
Over our 21 years, Jazz in the Valley contributed $35,600 in support of local music
educational programs .
A number of years ago CWU offered a Jazz camp for high school students the week prior
to our festival. It was so successful that even though the timing conflicts with other camps
across the State, staring in 2017 they have committed to offering the camp every year.
This opened a number of collaborative possibilities:
-In the past, we offered the campers and their instructors complimentary Friday
night
passes to experience the fabulous musicians plying their trade.
-This year, their distinctive T-shirts served as a pass to the entire weekend event.
-For the past two years, the band campers have performed a free concert for our
community and supporters prior to the Saturday's start of that day's event.
-This year the families of the Band-campers could purchase festival tickets at half
price.
Note: 99% of band members live outside of Kittitas County.
