How wlll this position meet th• economic development goals of the County and region? Utilizing information found in the Kittitas County Comprehensive Plan (December 2016), the City of Ellensburg Comprehensive Plan (December 2017), as well as the TIP Strategies from 2009, the EBDA will be focusing on the following elements in the next 18 months: • Analyzing and gathering data on existing businesses in order to support and retain and assist in their success and potential expansion • Develop marketing strategies to recruit new businesses and industries to maintain a strong and diverse Jobs and wage base o New website to Include current business climate, quality of life, demographics, and searchable database of available land and buildings o Social media strategies o Professional print materials • Highlight and preserve the unique historic and rural attributes of Ellensburg and Kittitas County • Work closely with WorkSource, SBA, end Central Washington University to develop and promote educational and workforce opportunities to new and existing businesses. Expand relationship with other regional training institutions on potential partnerships • Collaborate with the Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce, Ellensburg Downtown Association, City of Ellensburg Departments and Commissions, and Kittitas County on strategy development and implementation along with offering our assistance on projects that forward economic development in Kittitas County. • Work with the City and County offices of Community Development Office to address future zoning needs These strategies will help to achieve the following goals found within the Kittitas County Comprehensive Plan, specifically Chapter 1 O on Economic Development 10.3. Goals, Policies and Objectives Kittitas County has established the following goals and policies to guide future economic development These goals and policies were developed in response to existing economic conditions identified within the County. GPO 10.1 Be a county the supports the varied needs and demands of the community and surrounding area through the understanding and creation of a supportive and active environment for economic development in the community. GPO 10.2 Support the retention and expansion of existing local businesses/industries and recruitment of new business/industries in order to maintain a strong Job and wage base. GPO 10.3 Implement regulations that recognize and further the diversity of indusby and the business community, while also promoting the sustainability of natural resource based activities. GPO 10.4 Encourage economic growth while protecting the rural character of the County. GPO 10.6 Provide the infrastructure and public facilities to support economic activity and growth . GPO 10.8 Promote and encourage the establishment and expansion of educational, research and other related activities that support existing local industries and businesses. 10
