Reflecting on the criteria listed in the previous section above, and using data collected <br />about regional competitor municipalities, the Ellensburg Busines.z-, Development <br />Authority has conducted an analysis of this community's business position, vis-a-vis <br />recruitment of new opportunities and sustaining the local business economy. <br />Businesses In Ellensburg have strong community ties, which reduce the risk of leaving <br />the area. A healthy community relies on having strong, committed businesses. Real job <br />growth, over time, comes from local business retention and expansion. <br />As of year-end 2017, the Washingtx)n State Department of Revenue indicates there are <br />11400 registered businesses In Ellensburg. Of these registered businesses, about 200 <br />are looted in the downtown core leaving 1,200 outside the downtown core. Registered <br />businesses may include various types such as retail or industrial as well as home <br />businesses. <br />Of key concern to EBDA is to ensure those businesses who are in Ellensburg can <br />continue to prosper and grow.
