Over 230 community partnerships responded to Amazon's request for proposals. Each <br />proposal weighed in at over 600 pages of creative ideas, data, and information about <br />partner communities — much of it now available for public consumption. The short list of <br />20 has economic development professionals speculating on what it is that businesses of <br />the 215t century are looking far. The connections to'placemaking' and site selection are <br />unfolding as more and more communities are shifting their approach from attracting <br />business sectors to one that seeks out those people who are good for their community. <br />What is Me EHDA s caMPOfitive business position? <br />The Ellensburg Business Development Authority (EBDA) has as its geographic boundary <br />the 6.97 square mile area of the City of Ellensburg (see Figure 1). The EBDA has a <br />seven -member governing board, a city employee who serves as a part-time Economic <br />Development Manager, and a city employee serving as the Interim -Executive Director. <br />As of this report, there are about 1,400 registered businesses in Ellensburg (source: <br />Washington State Department of Revenue, November 2017). <br />Figure 1: City of Ellensburg zoning map with commercial and industrial zones only <br />N <br />W E <br />PVTP <br />._#. <br />
