h <br />Ar <br />Chapter 10. Economic Development Element <br />10.1. Introduction <br />The economy plays an important role in making sure that Kittitas County is a community where <br />OW can live and work Economic development can be defined as public and private initiatives <br />that promote job creation and business retention and recruitment, increase goods and services to <br />residents and businesses, and provide job training programs, an of which contribute to a strong <br />tax base. Economic Development plays a key role in maintaining the quality of life in Kittitas <br />County. A strong economy crates jobs and oppvrhmities for the citizens. Within Kittitas County <br />there exist resource-based industries, recreation, industrial, and commercial businesses. <br />Supporting such economic development and developing strategies to do so will assist in <br />encouraging and retaining business and industry in Kittitas County. <br />The pnrpase of this chapter is to establish the goals and policies for economic growth and vitality <br />that will enhance the County's character and quality of life. <br />Element organization <br />The Economic Development Element cmisists of three main sections. The first section, <br />"Economic Conditions and Needs" includes statistics, which support the County's economic <br />goals and policies, The second section, "(hWs and Politica" presents a general set of <br />comprehensive goals and policies to guide the implementation of the Comprehensive Plan. The <br />final section, "Economic Strategies" consists of a set of strategies related to implementation of <br />the Economic Development Element and to address future issues that may arise. <br />Kkdtas County December 2016 <br />Comprehensive Plan IM <br />
