Earlier this year COG made reached a recommendation on countywide population projection and <br />allocation of that population to each of the jurisdictions. <br />COG passed the following population projection and allocation (Roslyn voted no): <br />2.00% average annual population growth rate <br />* 65% of population growth allocated in urban areas (cities and their UGAs) <br />35% of population growth allocated in rural areas outside of established UGAs <br />This allocation is based on encouraging slightly more growth in urban areas than what we see <br />currently. Currently about 60% of our population is in urban areas and about 40% is located in rural <br />areas. <br />The allocation to the individual jurisdictions was based on each jurisdiction maintaining their 2015 share <br />of population. <br />• Ellensburg's current share of population is just under 49% <br />• COG's recommended allocation would result in just over 49% of the population living in <br />Ellensburg in 2037 <br />Table 1. Population <br />capacity was estimated based on current zoning and regulations that pertain to residential <br />development. <br />• Ellensburg's current population capacity is equal to the population of 11,757 allocated to <br />Ellensburg <br />
