Kittitas County Transfer Station <br /> April 2018 Community Meeting Summary <br /> <br />Updated 5/31/2018 <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br />Meeting Details <br />Date: Monday, April 9, 2018 <br />Time: 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. <br />Location: Armory Main Hall, 901E 7th Avenue, Ellensburg, WA <br /> <br />Agenda <br />• 6:00 p.m. Doors open <br />• 6:15 – 6:30 p.m. Presentation <br />• 6:30 – 6:45 p.m. Question & Answer session <br />• 8:00 p.m. Adjourn <br /> <br />Attendees <br />Approximately 30 community members attended the meeting. <br /> <br />Key Topics <br />The following topics were brought up by members of the public during the community meeting: <br />• Suggestions to modify the current site <br />• Potential impacts to groundwater <br />• Floodplain impacts <br />• Impacts to residential communities <br /> <br />• Traffic impacts and studies <br />• Increased recycling options <br />• Coordination with current property <br />owners <br /> <br /> <br />Outreach Materials <br />Project staff publicized the meeting through a variety of outreach methods: <br /> <br />Notifications <br />• Postcards were mailed to approximately 15,000 households within the project area as <br />the initial invitation to the community meeting (Appendix A). <br />o Note: Meeting sign-in sheet responses revealed most attendees learned about <br />the meeting from the postcard. <br />• A radio announcement was aired on Friday, March 30, 2018 and Monday, April 2, 2018 <br />on KXLE radio to remind and encourage the public to attend (Appendix B). <br />• A display ad advertising the meeting ran in the Ellensburg Daily Record on March 29 and <br />30 and April 3 and 4, 2018. Online advertisements were also posted on the Ellensburg <br />Daily Record’s website from April 2 – 13, 2018 (Appendix C). <br />• An email listserv update was sent out to the project listserv on April 3, 2018 to inform <br />community members of upcoming public feedback opportunities (Appendix D). <br />• A press release was issued to inform local media outlets of the next phase of outreach. <br />The Ellensburg Daily Record also ran an article regarding this phase of outreach and the <br />current potential sites (Appendix E). <br /> <br /> <br />
