address storm water improvements through this area associated with the flooding of
Runway 11-29.
o An area 150' wide by 1,000', centered on the proposed connecting taxiway from
Taxiway B to Runway 25.
• Runway 11-29;
o An area 500' wide, centered on Runway 11-29 centerline (Runway is 4,300' long),
and 300' beyond threshold bar at RW 11, and 500' beyond threshold bar at RW 29.
Approximate total length of Runway 11-29 survey is 5,100'.
o Proposed connecting taxiway areas between the parallel taxiway and Runway 11-29
will covered within the 500' wide area surveyed for Runway 11-29.
• Proposed Runway 11-29 parallel taxiway;
o An area 150' wide, centered on the proposed parallel taxiway, and southwest of the
area surveyed for Runway 11-29 (described above), and 300' beyond end of parallel
taxiway pavement at each end. Approximate length is 4,900'.
o An area 150' wide by 1,000', centered on the proposed connecting taxiway from
Runway 25 to the proposed parallel taxiway of Runway 11-29.
• Proposed hangar taxi lane area (4 acres).
• All storm structures and connecting storm pipe within airport property limits.
1) Establish horizontal (NAD 83(2011)) and vertical control (NAVD 88) for survey work at the airport.
Establish one benchmark for elevation control and a minimum of two additional points for horizontal
control. Utilize Airport PACs and/or SACs if available.
2) Conduct topographic surveying in the areas listed above to include:
a) Determine the location and elevation of each runway threshold;
b) Determine the location and elevation of each runway end of pavement;
c) Establish a centerline for the runways;
d) Collect survey points, at a 50' maximum interval, along the runway centerline; Vertical position
tolerance= 0.05'+/-.
e) Survey data for paved areas shall be collected on cross sections at a 25' max interval or a 25'x25'
max grid spacing.
f) Off pavement areas shall be collected on cross section at a 50' max interval or a 50'x50' max grid
spacing.
g) Document additional features including grade breaks, ditches, swales, slope top/toe, interface
between types of pavement (i.e., PCC and AC), pavement cuts, patches, and utility
patches/trenches.
h) The topographic survey shall show existing pavement striping/markings, edge lights and
reflectors, signs, ditches, swales, drainage structures, fences, buildings, tie-down anchors,
pavement edges (AC and PCC), gravel areas, utilities, test pits, pavement core locations,
NAVAIDS and other structures or surface features within the survey limits.
Bowers Field Airport Improvements EA
April 27, 2018
5
