successful fringe benefit. The fringe benefits of this grant have been numerous,
collaborating with many agencies and professionals to build a network of dedicated
individuals to reducing wildfire risk in Kittitas County. Cost-share contracts have
amounted in approximately 70 acres of vegetation management and strategic shaded
fuel breaks, which are invaluable in times of emergency. Crew implementation have
empowered the community to take action on their own property, by limbing and piling
their own property, and the crew able to provide necessary equipment for chipping the
material. Having two mechanisms for implementation (providing financial assistance
thru cost-share agreements and/or equipment to chip material or create defensible
space) have been successful tools in implementing on-the-ground fuels reduction and
vegetation management for the target communities of Kittitas County of E15-243
Wildfire Mitigation Fuels Reduction Project Grant.
