Pursuant 10 RCW Chapter 16.10. the unincorporated territory of Kittllas County is hereby declared to a dog contro l zone sub[ecL to the reg ulations ot this chapter. 6.01.040 Kittitas County Sheriff's Office -Dog Ordinance-powers and duties . 1. The Kittitas County Sheriffs Office shall: (a) Enforce the provisions of this chapter, the Kittitas County Code and the laws of the State of Washington relating to dogs, and to discharge the duties provided herein. (b) Collect. according to the provisions of the Kittitas County Code. any costs. fees or charges for registration, licensing and impounding or keeping any dog. 6.01.050 Violations -Penalties. It is unlawful for any person to violate any provision of thi s chapter , Any person violating any of the provisions of th is chapte r shall be guJJty of a civll infraction . except that any person who vi olaLes Kittitas Co unty Code 6.01 :060 , 6.01 .070 ,6.01 .080 , 6.01 .18Q(2}-(3}. 6.01 .190(1 )(a), and/or 6.01.190(1 )(b), shall be guilly of a misdemeanor . Any person who violales Kitt itas County Code G.0 1.180 (4}-(6) and/or 6.01 .190(1)(c)-(d), shall be guilty of a gross mlsd.emeanor . Upon cony lctloll of any mis'demeanor violation of th is Chap ter. such person shall be punis hed by a fine of not more than one thousand do ll ars ($1 .000 .00) or by imprisonment for not more than ninety (gO) daYs. or by hoth such fine and imprisonment. Unless otherwise specified in this Chapter . any person found gui lty of a civil infraction of this Chapter sha ll be fined one hundred twenty-five dollars ($.125.00) for each vio lation . Any violation of this Chapter may result in the dog being impounded , and/or destroyed by order a' the court. 6.01 .060 Receiving and responding to Infraction notices. 1. Aperson who is to receive a notice of civil infraction or criminal citation under this Chapter is required La identify himse lf or herself to tile animal control office r or law enforcement officer by giving his or her name . address . and date of birth. Upon the request of the office r. tbe person shall produce reasonable ldentffication . inc luding a driver's license :or identicard . 2. A person who is unable to or unwilling to reasonably identify himself or herse lf to an enforcement Officer may be detained for a period of lime nollonger1 han is reasonably necessary Lo Identify the pers on for purposes of issu ing a ci vil infrac::lion or criminal citation. 3. A person who fails to sign a notl.ce of civil infraction or criminal citation is guilty of a misdemeanor as set out in Kittitas County Code 6.01.050. 4.
