8. Explain how the Infrastructure project will heJp meet the economic development goals of your community
and/or region. If this project is not done, will the anticipated private development still take place?
lTourism is one of the main economic drivers for the City of Cle Elum. Many studies have been
iCompleted stating that the downtown & surrounding area need to become more pedestrian
friendly to enhance our tourism experience. Street widths need to be reduced, sidewalks
IWidened & trail heads extended throughout the City, snow storage areas added & many more
recommendations that first start with a proper design of a quality stormwater facility. Without
this project, the possibility of doing a comprehensive stormwater design is very unlikely. Cle
Blum Downtown Association wil1 most likely address portions of downtown.
9. Describe any feasibility or predevelopment studies that demonstrate the linkage between the proposed
Distressed County Infrastructure Improvements and the antiCipated economic outcomes.
~onceptual plans and studies have been prepared for the downtown corridor over the past 20
years to improve traffic flow, parking, and a pedestrian friendly community. These existing
plans and studies show many improvements that will require enhancements and renovations to
~he existing stormwater facilities throughout the City. These above ground surface
improvements cannot begin until proper infrastructure is designed and constructed first. The
greater population will benefit and be able to use this design by reducing the infiltration/inflow
from the businesses and homeowners and maximize the efficiency of the City's infrastructure.
10. Indicate If other needed Infrastructure (e.g., sewer. water, power) Is In place or If there is a plan for getting
It In place.
Sewer, water & power is all in place. As part ofthe stormwater design, these utilities will need
Ito be accounted for. Currently many of the businesses and homeowner's stormwater is drained
'nto the City's sanitary sewer system creating unwanted 1/1. This project will address this issue.
11. Indicate the Estimated Number of Businesses Created/Retained by the ProJect. _5 ___ _
12. Indicated the Estimated Number of Jobs Created/Retained by the Project. 6
Submit the original application to:
Kittitas County Department oCPublic Works
411 N. Ruby, Suite #1
Ellensburg, W A 98926
13
