PROJECT NARRATIVE <br />1. Project Description: Describe the scope of work. Indicate the major work Involved, including a brief <br />comparison of existing and proposed conditions. <br />rrhis project will involve assessing the current condition of the City ofCle Elum's stormwater <br />!conveyance system and facilities in the project area shown. It will also require collecting <br />inventory of the existing system by surveying methods. The major portion of the project <br />Fonsists of designing a comprehensive stonnwater system plan to a level that is shovel ready <br />!for construction within approximately 20 18(subject to funding). Currently the City lacks a <br />significant amount of stormwater facilities, such as catch basins, main trunk lines & snow <br />storage areas. This project would allow us to address these issues. <br />2. Explain the speclflc Infrastructure Issues the project addresses and how they are linked to economic <br />development Improvements. <br />This project will design facilities to eliminate storm water complaints and concerns by residents <br />and. businesses, safety, and infiltration/inflow. Infiltration/inflow causes dilution in sanitary <br />sewers. Dilution of sewage decreases the efficiency of treatment, and may cause sewage <br />~olumes to exceed design capacity. City of Cle Elum has been given a verbal notice from the <br />Department of Ecology that their current 111 is above allowed levels. This project would help <br />satisfY DOE's concerns by showing progress in addressing this issue, while also showing <br />businesses and the community that necessary improvement are being made. <br />3. Preliminary Engineering Phase: <br />Estimated Start Date: January 1,2017 Estimated End Date: August 1,2017 <br />Please explain phase status (work already completed, in progress, awaiting funding, etc., and factors that <br />may slow phase progress). <br />. . <br />Currently the Cle Blum Downtown Association is working on a conceptual main st. <br />. l'evitaUzation plan and this project would take it one step further by including the City as a <br />Whole.
