Kittitas County -Local 792 <br />January 1, 2016 -December 31, 2018 <br />ARTICLE XIII-SICK LEAVE <br />13.1 An employee will accrue eight (8) hours of sick leave for each calendar month worked. <br />Sick leave may be accumulated up to one thousand one hundred and twenty (1,120) hours . <br />13.1.1 At the date of signing, employees shall have their sick leave accumulation identified and <br />recorded. Those employees whose accumulated balance of sick leave hours is greater than one <br />thousand one hundred and twenty (1,120) hours will not accrue additional sick leave until such <br />time as the balance falls below one thousand one hundred and twenty (1,120) hours. Use of <br />sick leave to reduce this balance will be restricted to normally approved situations . <br />13.2 An employee abusing sick leave will be subject to discipline, up to and including termination . <br />13.3 Any employee who is eligible for State Industrial Compensation for time off because of an on - <br />the-job injury shall use accumulated sick leave, then submit their worker's compensation timeloss <br />payment to the Auditor's office to replenish, or "buy back" their sick leave. If the employee does not <br />have any sick leave accrued, vacation will substitute before leave without pay will be granted. In the <br />event of an overpayment, the employee shall return that amount of overpayment to the Employer. <br />13.4 Sick leave may be used in minimum increments of one quarter (1/4) hour for the following: <br />A. Because of, and during illness or injury incapacitating the employee to perform his duties, <br />or by having a scheduled appointment with a licensed person, pertaining to all matters of <br />health, as governed by the State of Washington. <br />B. By reason of exposure to contagious disease during such period as his attendance on duty <br />would jeopardize the health of fellow workers or the public (upon request, a doctor's <br />certificate shall be furnished by the employee documenting exposure to contagious <br />disease). <br />C. Because of illness in the immediate family, requiring the attendance of the employee. <br />"Immediate family" shall include only persons(s) related by blood or marriage, guardianship <br />or legal adoption to the extent of wife, husband, parent, grandparent, brother, sister, child <br />or grandchild of the employee, and other relatives residing in the employee's household . <br />13.5 Sick leave is accumulative to a total of one thousand one hundred and twenty (1,120thours, <br />after which time, if not taken, shall lapse month by month. That is, an employee at no time can have <br />more than one thousand one hundred and twenty (1,120) hours of sick leave due . <br />13.6 As of January 1, 1988, employees previously hired shall have their sick leave accumulation <br />identified and recorded. As to those employees hired prior to January 1, 1988, and who have at least <br />thirty (30) hours of accumulated sick leave, upon retirement or layoff due to reduction in force or upon <br />the death of the employee (payable to the estate) those employees shall receive in cash twenty-five <br />percent (25%) of accumulated sick leave, not to exceed twenty-five percent (25%) of the employee's <br />accumulation as of January 1, 1988. Provided further, that as to those employees hired prior to January <br />1, 1988, whose accumulations are reduced below the recorded accumulation as of January 1, 1988, <br />12
