19.9 The County will loan line deputies a standard set of handcuffs, handgun, holster and other gear as <br />needed and as established by the Sheriff, which the employee will maintain and return to the <br />County upon the termination of said employee's service. The employee may elect to purchase his <br />own gear, in part or all, but it must meet requirements as established by the Sheriff. <br />ARTICLE 20 -WAIVER OF PORTION OF AGREEMENT <br />20.1 The expressed provisions of this Agreement may not be waived except by mutual agreement of the <br />Union and the County, and in any individual case, the affected employee. Neither the County nor <br />the Union will ask for or accept a voluntary waiver by an employee without prior consent of the <br />other party. <br />ARTICLE 21-SAVINGS CLAUSE <br />21.1 Should any section or portion thereof of this Agreement be held unlawful and unenforceable by any <br />court of competent jurisdiction, such decision of the court shall apply only to the specific section or <br />portion thereof, directly specified in the decision. Upon the issuance of such a decision, the parties <br />agree immediately to negotiate a substitute, if possible, for the invalidated section or portion <br />thereof. <br />ARTICLE 22 -LONGEVITY AND EDUCATION PAY <br />22.1 Effective January 1, 2013, the Employer will compensate employees who qualify for longevity pay in <br />conformity with the schedule set forth herein below. <br />For entry level hires, longevity is based on continuous years of service with the Kittitas County <br />Sheriff's Office, regardless of division or classification; for employees hired as a lateral transfer, <br />longevity will recognize time in service with the law enforcement agency they lateral from, based <br />either on date of hire with that agency, or date of Peace Officer certification, whichever is later. <br />Completed years of service Amount per month, above base pay <br />5 years $35.00 <br />10 years $110.00 <br />15 years $150.00 <br />20 years $200.00 <br />Education pay is available for employees with a degree in a field that directly relates to their primary <br />responsibilities within the Sheriff's Office (see chart below). If an employee qualifies, he or she <br />must request education pay through the Sheriff in writing, and provide a copy of their degree <br />certificate. Education pay will not be granted automatically or retroactively. <br />21 I Kittitas County Line Deputies 1/1/17 -12/31/21
