. Those of us who live in Upper County know how access and traffic is affected by a 2 to 3 foot
snowfall, the logistics and reality of timely snow removal. It can be 2 or 3 days before the County plows
us out It also can take that long or longer for private roads to get plowed out.
This proposal seems very problematic when it comes to snow removal. If these are seasonal or
recreation properties, drive ways are not plowed out unless the owner is there.
Additionally, on a Friday night, when friends show up with trucks and snowmobile trailers roads
quickly do and will be blocked. This is a real nightmare when we are trying to respond to a serious
situation.
We have had to use our own personal equipment, in the past, to plow access for Medic One and hand
shovel snow for access to homes for medical calls.
This proposal seems very unclear of the types of structures that would be built Town house style
apartments or multi story structures would necessitate a ladder engine which we currently do not have.
We do not have space at our current facility to house a ladder truck nor do we have property to add an
additional bay.
Again, we are a small rural fire department proud of our record and the service we provide to Kittitas
County, the Easton Community and the traveling public on Interstate 90.
We must address these issues and not tie the hands of the Easton Fire Department when it comes to
serving and protecting our community.
Respectfully submitted,
Easton Fire
#3
r r4 -C,
A E sl ►z-f- # 7 ' z z-
4Chns
elgeso , Assi Fire Chief
Easton Fire District #3
2
