Attachment 1 <br />WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH <br />Marijuana Prevention and Education Program <br />Needs/Asset Assessment for Youth Marijuana Prevention & Education Program: Greater Columbia <br />Accountable Community of Health region <br />Purpose of Assessment: <br />• Understand regional needs and identify strategies to prevent youth marijuana use. <br />• Gather and assess data to ensure that marijuana use prevention efforts are appropriate and <br />targeted to the needs of communities and the priority populations within the regions. <br />• Understand what resources and capacity are available to address the needs of priority <br />populations. <br />• Understand current readiness, and identify community preparedness needs. <br />• Understand potential for e -cigarette and vaping device policies within your region. <br />Statewide Goals: <br />• Decrease the percentage of 10th grade students who have used marijuana at least once in the <br />past 30 days. (Statewide and among priority populations) <br />• Decrease the percentage of 10th grade students who first used marijuana before they were 14 <br />years old. <br />Outcome Measures: <br />• Baseline measures come from the 2014 Washington Health Youth Survey. <br />• The rate of youth marijuana use will come from outcomes of biannual HYS data. <br />Section 1: Understanding Reach and Populations to Serve <br />1. List the coalitions in your county working on marijuana use with a brief description of the coalition <br />(2-3 sentences). Specifically note those that focus on youth marijuana prevention and education. <br />2. Priority populations are groups of people who experience inequity in health outcomes or <br />disproportionate marijuana use rates compared to the overall population. These groups can include <br />racial or ethnic minorities, low-income, youth who struggle academically, youth who have been <br />bullied, and youth who have been bullied for being perceived as gay. <br />Complete the following HYS county/school district profile for your county. If data is not available, <br />identify where it is not available and include plans to expand HYS participation.
