4) Sign –DETOUR 4
Sign facing North along oncoming lane. Approximately 60ft North of the road closure barricades, there will be a
detour sign with an arrow to the left that travelers will see as they approach from the North in order to make
the left turn into the detour around the exterior of the parking lot.
5) Sign – DETOUR —♦
Sign facing East back toward the parking lot. This sign will direct traffic turning north out of the parking lot
detour, turning right onto SR906 and re-entering the highway.
6) Barricades
Type 3 barricades spanning the width of SR906 and the shoulders. These barricades will have blinking lights that
will be activated at night. In 2015 four Type 3 barricades were placed at this location. Per request from WSDOT
this number will be increased to eight in 2016.
7) Sign – FESTIVAL PARKING ONLY
A Crowd Management Services (CMS) professional will be stationed at this location 10:00am–11:00pm, each
operational day of the festival, directing festival traffic into the parking area and directing any travelers without
tickets on to the detour route.
8) Sign - DETOUR (—
This sign will funnel travelers hoping to detour around the festival into the designated lanes along the perimeter
of the parking lot. At this same location, 8ft parade rail barricades will be used end to end to funnel travelers
into the detour lanes.
9) Detour Lanes
Lining the exterior of the parking lot, there will be a 24ft detour route, wide enough for cars to pass each other
going both directions. Traffic cones will line the exterior edge of the parking lot with a minimum of 5ft between
the cones (edge of detour route) and the embankment. The inner boundary of the detour route will also be
marked by traffic cones with flags. We will also have SLOW speed signs along the detour route to keep traffic
under control. Festival parking will be directed to start nearest the Summit Central Base Area, working outward
toward the exterior of the parking lot. This will keep the detour separated from parked cars and festival -goers.
In the event that the festival parking is to approach the detour lanes along the external boundaries of the
parking lot, a buffer of 10 feet will be maintained between the nearest parked car and the inner coned boundary
of the detour route.
