KITTITAS COUNTY
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
AGENDA STAFF REPORT
AGENDA DATE: May 3, 2016
ACTION REQUESTED: Authorize the Director's Signature on Task Order No. 13
with Watershed Science and Engineering Supporting Final
Preparation of 2016 Floodplain by Design Grant
Applications in the amount of $49,956.00.
BACKGROUND: Recently, the Board of County Commissioners approved a
task order with Watershed Science and Engineering
(WS&E) supporting preparation and submittal of
preliminary 2016 Floodplain by Designs grants. The
granting agency has since noticed us that our applications
have been selected to move to the final evaluation round.
Lack of staffing in Public Works requires outside grant
preparation support.
WS&E has an open task order contract with Public Works.
Jacobs has recently acquired grant writing expertise as a
result of company purchase. We propose having Jacobs
subcontract to Watershed Science producing final
Floodplain by Design (FBD) grant applications for: Phase
III Reecer Creek, Yakima River Corridor Implementation
and Manastash Creek. The cost for WS&E plus Jacobs is
$49,956.00.
INTERACTION: Public Works
RECOMMENDATION: Move to authorize the Director's signature on Task Order
No. 13 with Watershed Science and Engineering.
HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works
ATTACHMENTS: EXHIBIT 1: Task Order No. 13 with Watershed Science
and Engineering
LEAD STAFF: Mark R.
