KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: July 18th, 2017 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: To Award the Contract for Fencing at the Airport and the <br />Intersection of Rader Rd and Wilson Creek Rd and Authorize <br />the Public Works Director to Execute the Same <br />BACKGROUND: The Department of Public Works solicited bids for the fencing <br />of two parcels being utilized as a rock stockpile site by Public <br />Works at the Airport, and for fencing replacement at the <br />intersection of Rader Road and Wilson Creek Road following <br />previously performed tree removal addressing unsafe sight <br />distance conditions. <br />Bids were solicited in accordance with RCW 39.04.155 Small <br />Works Roster Contract Procedures. <br />Bids were received by e mail on July 6`h, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. <br />The engineers estimate reflected a total project cost of <br />$41,000. It is understood that construction costs are <br />increasing regionally due to the increase in demand by <br />approximately 20% against recent bid history. <br />One (1) bid was received for the prescribed work. Public <br />Works recommends awarding the contract to Ellensburg <br />Fence Co. for the amount of $57,205.40 (bid corrected to <br />reflect observed error) approximately 30% over the engineers <br />estimate. Public Works would like to complete fence repairs <br />at Radar Road and enclose our existing aggregate stockpile at <br />Bowers Field Industrial area. <br />Work will commence immediately and will be completed <br />prior to September 30`s 2017. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Move to approve a resolution awarding the Contract for <br />fencing installation at the Airport and at the Intersection of <br />Rader Road and Wilson Creek Road and Authorize the Public <br />Works Director to Execute the Same. <br />HANDLING: Return one (1) copy to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: Ellensburg Fence Co Bid Proposal <br />LEAD STAFF: Lucas Huck, County Engineer <br />
