KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: June 20th, 2017 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Approve a Notice of Call for Sealed Bids for the <br />Huntzinger Road Safety Improvements Project <br />BACKGROUND: Kittitas County Public Works received a Highway Safety <br />Improvement Grant for safety improvements along <br />Westside Road and Huntzinger Road in 2014. <br />The grant was amended by Resolution in June 2016 to <br />reallocate additional funds towards the Huntzinger Road <br />project following significant savings realized on the <br />Westside Road project. <br />The Engineers estimate for the proposed project is <br />$488,826 with approximately $150,000 of Federal funding. <br />This project will install guardrail and guide posts from the <br />I-90 exit ramp to the State Park as appropriate. <br />Three additional projects were identified in the 2017 Safety <br />Plan along Huntzinger Road to continue south with safety <br />improvements in future years. <br />Bids are scheduled to be opened publicly on July 14th, <br />2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Public Works Department. <br />Public Works will be utilizing QuestCDN for contract <br />advertisement as described in the notice of call for bids. <br />The plans and specification packet is too large for digital <br />sharing within agenderator or via E Mail. If members of <br />the BOCC would like to review these documents, paper <br />copies can be provided and/or they will be available for <br />review on the QuestCDN website following advertisement. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Move to approve Notice of Call for Sealed Bids for the <br />Huntzinger Road Safety Improvements Project <br />HANDLING: Return one (1) copy to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: Notice of Call for Bids <br />LEAD STAFF: Lucas Huck, County Engineer <br />
