SAMPLE PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE <br />(FOR CDBG PUBLIC SERVICES GRANT ONLY) <br />The following six clauses meet CDBG public hearing notice requirements to both closeout the 2016 <br />CDBG contract and apply for 2017 CDBG funding. Additional information can be added to these <br />required clauses to meet specific local announcement needs and to encourage participation. <br />If a local government intends to apply for more than one type of CDBG grant during the same year, it is <br />possible to coordinate these citizen participation and public hearing requirements so that one hearing <br />covers multiple applications. <br />If the local government's assessment of demographic data shows there is a significant population of non- <br />English speaking residents (see the Citizen Participation Documentation form), then select the applicable <br />accommodation clause below and publicize this notice also in the alternative language. <br />1) Logistics Clause. <br />NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing will be held by the <br />(WhereiWhen) <br />(county board of commissioners) in the (council chambers/hearing room), <br />(location), on (date and time). <br />2) Purpose Clause- <br />The purpose of the public hearing is to review community development and <br />housing needs, inform citizens of the availability of funds and eligible uses <br />of the state Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), and receive <br />comments on proposed activities, particularly from lower income persons <br />residing in the (name of area) area. <br />3) Funding Clause: <br />$(enter total grant amount) is proposed to be available annually to the <br />(describing the <br />county and the (subrecipient name) to fund public services that principally <br />availability of <br />benefit low- and moderate -income persons. <br />CDBG funds and <br />eligible uses) <br />4) Comment clause <br />An overview of the proposed public services will be available for review at <br />the (location — government office and/or agency), (time and date). <br />Comments may also be submitted in writing to (county), (time period). <br />5) 2016 contract <br />Comments on the county's and community action program's past <br />closeout clause: <br />performance and use of their 2016 CDBG Public Services Grant will also <br />be received. <br />6) Accommodation <br />Oation A — for standard use <br />Clause: (select <br />The (council chambers/hearing room) is handicap accessible. <br />the applicable <br />Arrangements to reasonably accommodate special needs, including <br />option based on <br />handicap accessibility or interpreter, will be made upon receiving 24-hour <br />the assessment <br />advance notice.
