3. On our print advertising we can include the appropriate county and city logos as
required. With our online ticket sales we will ask people if they need a place to stay and
then send them local hotel/motel options. We will include information about Kittitas
County in the radio advertisements.
4. We have not applied for grant funding from other sources for this event because the brewery
has paid for all expenses in previous years. In the past the brewery has ticketed the event and
sold additional scripts and food to cover expenses. We've had success in most years making a
profit or breaking even. We do have a brewery budget dedicated to advertising this event and
would be able to provide a matching grant of up to $1,000. To ensure our event continues to
grow we need to advertise outside of Kittitas County, which is why we are requesting financial
assistance via the lodging tax grant.
If the project is not funded we will still hold Eastern Washington BrewFest, but our ability to
attract out-of-towners would not grow as we would not be able to dedicate more resources
toward advertising and marketing to Seattle or Eastern Washington.
Having the funding to better advertise to the Seattle market and the rest of Eastern Washington
will enable us to draw more of those consumers to Ellensburg.
5. Iron Horse Brewery works to bring members of the craft brewing industry together through
Eastern Washington Brewfest. We promote all the breweries that are attending the event, and
invite other breweries in Kittitas County to participate. In 2016 Dru Bru, Roslyn Brewing and
Whipsaw were all local participants. Other breweries participating advertise on their own social
media pages that they are coming to Ellensburg for the event, which encourages their
consumers to come to Ellensburg too.
We promote musicians in Kittitas County by hiring them for the event, and putting their
information on our social media pages and event advertisements.
6. Our event is already self-sustaining. The reason we are seeking grant funding is so we can
expand our advertising to other markets to draw in more out of towners. Most of our advertising
has been done locally up to this point. We'd like to have more beer consumers from around the
state attend, which would in turn help tourism in Kittitas County.
Our current model to keep the event self-sustaining is to continue to ticket the event and sell
drink tokens and food.
7. This event has become a staple in our community each May. It's a large draw for people both
in and out of town, and we anticipate it will continue to grow. Please read the attached survey
results from Eastern Washington BrewFest 2016 to see what people had to say about the value
of this event.
8. Please see attached budget for upcoming event. The budget from the previous three years of
operations also is attached.
