Application Questions
Iron Horse Brewery
Event: Eastern Washington BrewFest
1. Eastern Washington BrewFest is an event targeted toward beer enthusiasts in and around
Central and Eastern Washington.
It brings breweries from around the state together to give beer lovers the opportunity to sample
multiple breweries in one location, while enjoying live music from Kittitas County artists.
In 2015 the event featured 9 breweries, and 435 people attended. In 2016 the event brought in
15 other breweries from Central and Eastern Washington, and 488 people attended. We plan to
increase that number to 709 people in 2017. The audience we will target is beer lovers
throughout the state including, but not limited to the Seattle region, Kittitas County and Eastern
Washington.
The grant funding would primarily be used for marketing and advertising costs associated with
the event including:
1. Radio advertising outside the county
2. Print advertising outside the county
3. Online advertising outside the county
2. With our goal of a 45% increase in ticket sales the number of people staying in Ellensburg
also should increase. We estimate around 100 people will stay in Kittitas County overnight at
Eastern Washington BrewFest 2017.
After Eastern Washington BrewFest 2016 we sent an email survey out to all of our event
attendees, which included questions asking if they were from out of town and if they stayed at a
hotel or where they stayed (SEE ATTACHED #7). We had 42 responses out of our 488
attendees, an 8% response rate.
Of those 42, nine people indicated they stayed at a hotel (— 21% of respondents), five people
indicate they stayed with a buddy (-12% of respondents) and three people indicate they stayed
with grandma or a family member (-6% of respondents). Because this is only a slice of the
people who actually attended BrewFest, we estimate that more people stayed in town than was
represented by the survey.
In 2017 we will gather more information about how many people will stay/did in Kittitas County
for the event, collected both during the ticketing process and after the event.
3-
1. The event is date -specific, and is set for Friday, May 19, 2017.
2. We will use primarily radio advertising to reach remote markets like Seattle and Eastern
Washington. We will use targeted Facebook advertising for geographical regions. We will
use newspaper and print advertising outside the county where appropriate.
