APPLICATION QUESTIONS
Please answer each question completely, in the order listed, on a separate sheet attached to
this application. Please include any supporting data within the response narrative.
1. Please provide a description of your project/event and identify the specific tourism
audience/market that your organization will target with these funds. You must include
an itemized list of exactly how any grant funds awarded will be utilized.
- The Mountain Ale Festival draws visitors to Roslyn and Upper County during the shoulder season between
summer and winter recreation. The festival takes place in downtown Roslyn and features live music and 10
of the Northwest's best breweries. For 2016 the event moves into the Roslyn Yard on Pennsylvania Ave.
- The target audience of the Festival is 1) the many people who love Roslyn, 2) craft beer lovers throughout
Washington, and 3) Suncadia home -owners and guests.
- 2017 Lodging Tax funds will be used for:
a. Promotions and Marketing
b. Licenses (City and WA Liquor Control)
c. Music/Staging
d. Coal Mines Trail Bike Excursion (new)
2. Please provide the following estimates of how any money received will result in
increases in the number of people traveling for business or pleasure on a trip:
I. Away from their place of residence or business and staying overnight in
paid accommodations;
II. To a place fifty miles or more away from their place of residence or
business for the day or staying overnight; or
III. From another country or state outside of their place of residence or
business.
You must provide the evidence utilized in determining your projections.
I. Based on ticket sales and surveys from the 2015 Festival, approximately 18% of attendees will stay in
overnight paid accommodations. With 300 estimated attendees in 2017, 54 people are estimated to stay in
paid accommodations (21.5 room nights).
II. The same data showed that approximately 60% of attendees will be from outside of Kittitas County, or an
estimated 180. Based on previous Mt. Ale Festivals, many of those will be Suncadia homeowners. In fact
this is one of the few local events to strongly draw Suncadia owners.
III. It is expected that an insignificant number of attendees will travel from Idaho, Oregon, or Canada for the
event.
County -wide Lodging Tax Application P a g e 110
