Page 16│Kittitas County Air Quality Survey│9/30/2014

Uncertified Wood Stoves
At the tfme of the survey, 8% of all survey respondents report that their wood stoves are uncertffied
or manufactured before 1995. Looking solely at the 18% of survey takers who reported having free
standing wood stoves, the percentage of potentfally uncertffied stoves is 27% with an additfonal 18%
who are unsure of their stove’s certfficatfon status. This does not include those who reported having
a wood stove with a pellet insert.

Sources of Wood
Residents’ primary sources for firewood are individual sellers, obtaining a permit to cut firewood,
and clearing trees from their own property. Respondents that report burning in a fireplace or wood
stove differ in their sources only in that they buy less from stores and more from individual sellers.

FIGURE 15: Uncertified Wood Stoves
FIGURE 16: Sources of Firewood for Kittitas County Residents
*Write-in answers
