AGENDA STAFF REPORT
AGENDA DATE: November 3, 2026
ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution authorizing execution of an
Interlocal Agreement between Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office and Washington Traffic
Safety Commission.
BACKGROUND: The purpose of this Interlocal Agreement is to provide funding,
provided by the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) National Highway
Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), for traffic safety grant project 2027-Sub-grants-
6133-Region 12 Law Enforcement Liaison (LEL). The purpose of the Local Lasw
Enforcement Liaison project is to strengthen partnerships between WTSC and local law
enforcement agencies and increase sustained law enforcement engagement in traffic
safety. The LEL will serve as a trusted resource to promote traffic safety initiatives,
encourage participation in High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) and other traffic safety
activities, identify and help address barriers to participation, and support communication
and coordination among law enforcement agencies, WTSC, and regional traffic safety
partners.
INTERACTION: This Interlocal Agreement was reviewed and approved by the Kittitas
County Prosecutor’s Office.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve a Resolution authorizing execution of an Interlocal
Agreement between Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office and Washington Traffic Safety
Commission.
