KITTITAS COUNTY <br />Board of County Commissioners <br /> <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: September 21, 2026 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to ratify a signature for CO#1 tree removal KVEC buried electrical project <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: Belsaas & Smith, The City of Ellensburg, are working together to remove the tree, causing the risk, e at a cost of $20591.10. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: This KVEC electrical project was to begin 9/14/2026, but a tree was discovered to be diseased and at risk of falling onto the road or workers during the project. We had an arborist verify that the tree was dying and had become unstable. We partnered with the city, which provided traffic control, and our contractor to have it removed. The removal of the tree in a timely manner was urgent as it delayed the start of the project and could’ve added significantly more expense. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: Ratify the signature for the tree removal. <br /> <br />HANDLING: Original – BoCC <br /> Copy – Auditor <br /> <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: Staff Report and CO#1 for the KVEC tree removal <br /> <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Charlie Smith, Project Manager <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
