COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES
KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON
COMMISSIONER’S CONFERENCE ROOM
SPECIAL MEETING
WEDNESDAY 2:30 P.M. JULY 08, 2026
Board members present: Chairman Cory Wright, Vice-Chairman Brett
Wachsmith; Commissioner Laura Osiadacz.
Others: Mandy Buchholz, Office Administrator; Dan Young, Fire
Marshal; and one member of the public.
SPECIAL MEETING BURN BAN COMMISSIONERS
At 2:30 p.m. Chairman Wright opened a Special Meeting to consider a
request from the County Fire Marshal to declare a Burn Ban.
The Board proposed a Resolution declaring a ban on outdoor burning
throughout Kittitas County due to continued dry conditions, low fuel
moisture, elevated fire danger, and the recommendation of the
Kittitas County Fire Marshal. The Board noted that the Kittitas Fire
Chiefs unanimously supported implementation of the burn ban to
protect public health, safety, and welfare.
RESOLUTION 2026–118 OUTDOOR BURN BAN FIRE MARSHAL
Vice-Chairman Wachsmith moved to approve Resolution No. 2026-116, a
Resolution Declaring a Ban on Outdoor Burning, effective July 8,
2026, until further notice. Commissioner Osiadacz seconded. Motion
carried 3-0.
OTHER BUSINESS
Amy McGuffin, Chamber CEO, reviewed a letter of support she was
requesting. She stated that it's for the Planning and Recreation
Assistance (PRA) grant application to the Washington State
Recreation and Conservation Office for the proposed Thorp Rural
Outdoor Recreation Campus. She stated that the letter expresses the
County's support for the project, notes its consistency with the
County's future Parks, Recreation, and Open Space (PROS) planning
efforts, affirms the County's commitment to providing technical
assistance during planning and permitting, and indicates the
County's willingness to serve as the lead applicant for future RCO
implementation funding.
Vice-Chairman Wachsmith moved to approve and authorize Board
signature on a letter to the Washington State Recreation and
Conservation Office and directed Staff to place it on the BoCC

Office Administration Meeting Monday, July 13, 2026 at 9:00 a.m.
Commissioner Osiadacz seconded. Motion carried 3-0.
Meeting concluded at 2:47 p.m.
