07/08/2026 MINUTES 1 <br />COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />COMMISSIONER’S CONFERENCE ROOM <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />WEDNESDAY 2:30 P.M. JULY 08, 2026 <br /> <br />Board members present: Chairman Cory Wright, Vice-Chairman Brett <br />Wachsmith; Commissioner Laura Osiadacz. <br /> <br />Others: Mandy Buchholz, Office Administrator; Dan Young, Fire <br />Marshal; and one member of the public. <br /> <br />SPECIAL MEETING BURN BAN COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />At 2:30 p.m. Chairman Wright opened a Special Meeting to consider a <br />request from the County Fire Marshal to declare a Burn Ban. <br />The Board proposed a Resolution declaring a ban on outdoor burning <br />throughout Kittitas County due to continued dry conditions, low fuel <br />moisture, elevated fire danger, and the recommendation of the <br />Kittitas County Fire Marshal. The Board noted that the Kittitas Fire <br />Chiefs unanimously supported implementation of the burn ban to <br />protect public health, safety, and welfare. <br />RESOLUTION 2026–118 OUTDOOR BURN BAN FIRE MARSHAL <br /> <br />Vice-Chairman Wachsmith moved to approve Resolution No. 2026-116, a <br />Resolution Declaring a Ban on Outdoor Burning, effective July 8, <br />2026, until further notice. Commissioner Osiadacz seconded. Motion <br />carried 3-0. <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br />Amy McGuffin, Chamber CEO, reviewed a letter of support she was <br />requesting. She stated that it's for the Planning and Recreation <br />Assistance (PRA) grant application to the Washington State <br />Recreation and Conservation Office for the proposed Thorp Rural <br />Outdoor Recreation Campus. She stated that the letter expresses the <br />County's support for the project, notes its consistency with the <br />County's future Parks, Recreation, and Open Space (PROS) planning <br />efforts, affirms the County's commitment to providing technical <br />assistance during planning and permitting, and indicates the <br />County's willingness to serve as the lead applicant for future RCO <br />implementation funding. <br /> <br />Vice-Chairman Wachsmith moved to approve and authorize Board <br />signature on a letter to the Washington State Recreation and <br />Conservation Office and directed Staff to place it on the BoCC
