KITTITAS COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA STAFF REPORT AGENDA DATE: July 7, 2026 ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution Authorizing Chair Signature on the Application Authorization Form for a Planning for Recreation Access (PRA) grant fund to update the Kittitas County Parks, Recreation, and Open Space (PROS) Plan BACKGROUND: Kittitas County adopted its first Parks, Recreation and Open Space plan in 2016. During that time, the County produced a Tourism Plan that was not adopted. In winter 2021, staff began working with the Board of County Commissioners reviewing and revising the 2016 plan. This resulted in the adoption of a Kittitas County Recreation and Tourism Plan. The Plan is organized into two parts. Part One addresses recreation actions that are now led by the County while Part Two defines actions led by others. The State of Washington Recreation and Conservation Office accepted the 2021 Plan as meeting the planning requirements for recreation grant programs. The planning eligibility expires July 6, 2027. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office has provided notice of available funding through the Planning For Recreation Access (PRA) grant. To be eligible for future RCO grant funding, an updated PROS plan is needed. The Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce has available resources to complete the grant application. INTERACTION: Public Works RECOMMENDATION: Approve a Resolution Authorizing Chair Signature on the Application Authorization Form for a Planning for Recreation Access (PRA) grant fund to update the Kittitas County Parks, Recreation, and Open Space (PROS) Plan.
