ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval of the resolution to rename the Kittitas County 1/10th of 1% Mental Health and
Chemical Dependency Tax Advisory Board to the Behavioral Health Tax Advisory Board.
BACKGROUND:
Previously Kittitas County had mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance use
disorder combined as a board. Later, county advisory boards were separated and in 2022 the
county established the Kittitas County 1/10th of 1% Mental Health and Chemical Dependency
Tax Advisory Board after the local tax was implemented in 2021.
With the sunset clause rescinded for the tax, the advisory board is working on a strategic
planning process, which has included updating the board name. The new name continues to
include both mental health and substance use disorder prevention and removes the old
terminology of chemical dependency.
