BRIEFING SUMMARY: Information regarding the current state of the County GIS program BACKGROUND: IT wishes to update the Board on the many different GIS projects and initiatives that it is currently in progress or planning in the near term. DISCUSSION: • The Assessor’s Parcel Fabric solution was recently upgraded to Parcel Fabric Pro. Pro West and Associates (PWA) was instrumental in this migration. The project was very successful. • Public Works Roads Atlas project was assigned to PWA. The project has suffered delays due to PWA’s staffing turnover. We are expecting a meeting between PWA, IT, and Public Works late next week, which should begin the hand-off of deliverables to Public Works. • IT is in the process of moving GIS services to new servers and updating how they are published. This is technical requirement and we hope that this also improves COMPAS performance, which has been problematic in recent weeks. • IT will begin rebuilding our default basemap next week. This project will be performed by IT with assistance and direction by PWA. This should improve COMPAS performance and ensure the timely update of parcel, road, and other data to the basemap. • Noxious Weed Control Board uses a custom-built application vital to their work. Updates to Esri’s platform require this application to be deprecated. We have begun working with PWA to replace this with a solution using tools offered as part of our ArcGIS enterprise agreement. Page 2 of 2 Information Technology “Study Session Staff Report”, 5/26/2026 • The Assessor’s Office is nearing cutover to a new, third-party application which will replace our custom-built Mobile Appraiser application. • IT recently attended the WAGISA GIS Manager Training Bootcamp. This training will help IT to determine current and future staffing needs, as well program direction. BRIEFING SUMMARY: Work with Diagram on the county public website is progressing according to the timeline. BACKGROUND: In 2023 the Board directed IT to work on modernizing CAMAS. Since that time, IT has developed a project plan, and progress has been made to reach our goals. DISCUSSION: • IT is exploring options for a replacement solution for the Email Notification Service System (ENSS) in CAMAS. This system currently coordinates with Public Website, and various other CAMAS features to allow public users to opt-in to receive emails about topics which they have an interest in. It integrates with press releases, public notices, agendas, and custom-built topics of interest. It is critical that we decide our path forward before the new public website cutover. IT will take this topic to the next CSC meeting for consideration. • IT will ramp up its communications with department and office communication regarding the public website project in the coming weeks.
