ACTION REQUESTED: Request Board approval of the attached Resolution authorizing closure of
the lower Kittitas County Transfer Station to the public on July 13, 2026,
to facilitate relocation of operations to the new transfer station facility

BACKGROUND: Kittitas County Solid Waste is preparing for the transition of operations
from the existing lower Kittitas County Transfer Station to the newly
constructed transfer station facility. In order to facilitate the safe and
efficient relocation of departmental operations, equipment, records, and
associated functions, staff is requesting authorization to temporarily close
the lower transfer station to the public on July 13, 2026.
The temporary closure will allow staff adequate time to complete
operational transition activities while minimizing disruption to public
services and ensuring continuity of operations at the new facility.
INTERACTION: Kittitas County Solid Waste, and County administration.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution authorizing the closure of the lower Kittitas
County Transfer Station to the public on July 13, 2026, for the purpose of
relocating operations to the new transfer station facility.
HANDLING: Normal processing.
