Kittitas County <br />Public Health Department <br /> <br />Agenda Staff Report <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: <br />June 2, 2026 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />Approval to authorize a Board of County Commissioner Public Hearing to consider community <br />development and housing needs, inform citizens of the availability of funds and eligible uses of <br />the state Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), and receive comments on proposed <br />activities, particularly from lower income persons residing in the Kittitas County area. <br />Comments on Kittitas County and Hopesource past performance and use of the prior CDBG <br />Public Services Grants will also be received. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Washington State CDBG program annually awards 17 non-entitlement (smaller rural <br />county, that does not get direct federal funding) counties. The goal of funding is to provide <br />services to address the root causes of poverty and help low-income families and individuals <br />regain or retain self-sufficiency. Award amounts are based on a formula regarding service area <br />population and poverty rate.
