Wright, Commissioner Brett Wachsmith.

REGULAR MEETING IT STUDY SESSION COMMISSIONERS
At 11:01 a.m. Chairman Laura Osiadacz opened the Information Technology
Study Session.
CITIZEN COMMENTS
There were no citizen comments.
DISCUSSION COUNTY LOGO UPDATE IT
Assistant IT Director Zane Kinney presented 3 of his county logo
designs. The Board were most in favor of #1 and #3 that focused on
using the shape of the original background mountains combined with a
typography in the center. The Board was concerned that the font for #3
which used cursive would be difficult to read when the logo is shrunken
for letterheads and other County assets. Mr. Kinney agreed and will
work on some options to bring back that combine the positive
characteristics that were discussed today.
DISCUSSION CAMAS WEBSITE UPDATE IT
Mr. Kinney’s website team had their first design meeting with Diagram
Inc., the 3rd party website developer, and came away from it not very
impressed. Diagrams work method is to make a general design and make
small changes based on user feedback.
DISCUSSION ASSETPANDA UPDATE IT
App Developer I Calvin Lee is continuing to work on migrating all of
IT’s assets to the new inventory manager, Asset Panda.

DISCUSSION DISTRICT FINANCE PORTAL IT
App Developer I Chelsey Pedersen has been working on the new district
finance portal for the past year and is close to completion.

TOPIC: Requesting Board Direction for the County Logo

RECOMMENDATION:

BRIEFING SUMMARY:
The County logo is outdated and needs a new modern design uplift. Mr. Kinney has
worked on a proposal for a few design choices and will present to the Board for thoughts
and opinions. He’ll subsequently be requesting Board direction for next steps.
BACKGROUND:
Mr. Kinney has been requested by the Board to create a proposal of a few County logo
designs to present in a future meeting. These designs will focus on reinterpreting the
current logo imagery.
DISCUSSION:
The current logo challenges the County in a couple of different ways. First it was adopted
before online media was a standard way to communicate with the public and the logo is
not versatile enough for the many ways that it is brought into service. Secondly, the way
it is designed it is difficult to meet certain state legislative requirements that a logo must
meet, such as marking fleet vehicles.
Mr. Kinney is a graduate of Oregon State University, with a degree in graphic design and
illustration and has designed many logos for businesses and organizations in our area.
Employing him to work on this project is financially advantageous for the County. Mr.
Kinney will be presenting his designs to the Board and will be requesting Board
directions for next steps.
