KITTITAS COUNTY <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT SERVICES <br />AGENDA DATE: <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />April 21 F% 2026 <br />Request to Approve a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for <br />Abatement Services <br />BACKGROUND: The Kittitas County Community Development Services <br />Department and its Code Enforcement have been <br />discussing and dealing with abatements for the last two <br />years and preparing for upcoming abatements. <br />As part of these discussions and actual on the ground <br />processing of recent abatements the realization of the <br />processes involved with abatements has warranted a more <br />in-depth review of our processes, specifically being legally <br />correct in selecting contractors for abatement work. <br />An RFQ has been drafted for advertisement with <br />submittals due by 10:00 am local time on May 21', 2026, <br />to the Community Development Services Office. <br />Once submittals are received, they will be reviewed by a <br />review committee put together by CDS for final <br />recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners. <br />INTERACTION: Community Development Services <br />RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the issuance of the Request for Qualifications as <br />requested by Community Development Services. <br />HANDLING: Return one original to Community Development Services. <br />ATTACHMENTS: Notice of Request for Qualifications; Request for <br />Qualifications <br />LEAD STAFF: Chad Bala, Director <br />
