KITTITAS COUNTY
Board of County Commissioners
Regular Agenda Session
AGENDA DATE: April 7th, 2026
ACTION REQUESTED: Request to set a Public Hearing on April 21st to Approve Proposed
Precinct Boundary Adjustments
BACKGROUND: Ordinance 2022-002 removed voting precincts from county code and
reaffirmed that the Kittitas County Auditor is authorized to adjust
voting precinct boundaries as required to bring the precincts into
compliance with Chapter 29A.16 RCW
In accordance with the RCW and intent of Ordinance 2022-002, the
County Auditor’s Office is recommending seven (7) map changes to
the boundaries of Kittitas County Precincts effective upon approval
by the BOCC. The primary intent behind these changes is to ensure
the number of registered voters in these precincts does not exceed the
statutory limit of 1500 voters (RCW 29A.16.040). The Auditor’s
office has invited the respective political parties to review the
changes, who confirmed that they did not observe any issues.
INTERACTION: The Auditor’s Office has coordinated with the local political parties to
review the proposed changes. Once the changes are approved, we will
work with County IT to ensure the changes are reflected in Compas
GIS
RECOMMENDATION: Set a public hearing for April 21st, 2026, to approve the proposed
precinct boundary adjustments.
