RESOLUTION

TO ADOPT THE 2026 INTERNAL RATE FOR UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION
WHEREAS: all local governments may elect to contribute via Tax Basis or In-lieu contribution
basis regarding Unemployment Compensation per RCW 50.44.030; and
WHEREAS: Kittitas County has selected Option 2, In-lieu contribution basis; and
WHEREAS: the State Auditor prescribes the accounting for In-lieu contributions. Kittitas
County elected to create an internal service fund per RCW 50.44.060.
WHEREAS: The amount of these contributions is estimated based on projected future claims
and a desired operating fund balance of one year’s worth of expenses.
WHEREAS: the previous adopted rate was .000% (zero percent)
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: The Board of County Commissioners hereby
adopts the rate of 0.11% (eleven hundredths of one percent) of gross wages, excluding
elected officials, to be charged to all departments and funds for wages effective January
1, 2026.
