Kittitas County <br />Auditor <br /> <br />Agenda Staff Report <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: <br />4/7/2026 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />Request the Board of County Commissioners approve and sign the accompanying resolution to adopt the <br />unemployment compensation rate for 2026. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br />During the 2023-2024 Accountability Audit, it was discovered that the balance of the Unemployment Fund <br />has reached a threshold signaling that contributions will become necessary to retain health. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: <br />It is advised to keep, in reserve, one year's worth of expenses. To reach this threshold, Auditor Finance has <br />calculated a rate of 0.11% of gross wages for 2026, as listed in the resolution. The resolution was reviewed <br />by DPA Murphy via LR #12304. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Approve and sign the Resolution to Adopt the 2026 Internal Rate for Unemployment Compensation of <br />0.11%. <br /> <br />HANDLING: <br />Original - Clerk of the Board <br />Copy - Assistant Finance Director <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: <br />Andrew Yoder <br />
