KITTITAS COUNTY <br />Board of County Commissioners <br /> <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: January 6, 2026 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Approve agreement. <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: Morgue services are historically provided on a rotational monthly <br />basis for the coroner’s office by both Ellensburg funeral homes <br />(Brookside and Johnston & Williams). The current service agreement <br />with Brookside will expire on December 31, 2025. <br /> <br />Please note Johnston & Williams renewed their agreement on <br />December 2, 2025. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: Kittitas County Prosecutor’s office has reviewed the agreement, and <br />recommended edits were made. <br /> <br /> Coroner McKean met with both business owners to discuss the <br />agreement. Mr. Jamin Mohler of Brookside Funeral Home has agreed <br />to the language, length of the agreement, services provided, and fee <br />schedule for services. Mr. Mohler signed the agreement on December <br />22nd, 2025. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve and sign the agreement with Brookside Funeral Home <br />extending morgue services to February 28, 2027. <br /> <br />HANDLING: <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: Professional Service Agreement <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Cori McKean, Coroner <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
