Kittitas County
Auditor

Agenda Staff Report

AGENDA DATE:
9/2/2025

ACTION REQUESTED:
Request acknowledgment of the Preliminary 2026 County Budget and consideration of necessary revision or
additions.

BACKGROUND:
In accordance with RCW 36.40.050 On or before the First Tuesday in September of each year the
preliminary budget must be submitted to the BOCC for consideration and direction as to what revisions or
additions to include. The attached document and analysis is that submission.

INTERACTION:
Finance staff has collaborated with departments to compile initial budget requests into a comprehensive
working document. This draft is provided for review and to help guide direction on the proposed trends. It is
not final and should be viewed as a progress update, with further revisions expected as the budget process
continues.

RECOMMENDATION:
I recommend that the BOCC review the presented materials in the context of current trends and
expectations, as staff continue to progress through this year’s budget process

HANDLING:

LEAD STAFF:
Zack DeHaven
