KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: September 2, 2025 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution to Award the Contract for the <br />Huntzinger Road Safety Improvements — Phase 1 Project (CRP <br />318-23) and Authorize the Public Works Director to execute the <br />same. <br />BACKGROUND: On October 3, 2023, the Kittitas County Board of County <br />Commissioners (BOCC) approved Resolution 2023-167 <br />initiating the County Road Project CRP 318-23 for the <br />Huntzinger Road Safety Improvements — Phase 1 Project. <br />On July 15, 2025, the BOCC approved a Notice of Call for <br />Sealed Bids for the construction of said project. Sealed bids were <br />opened publicly on August 7, 2025, at Kittitas County Public <br />Works. There were five (5) qualified bids received with the <br />lowest responsive bid being from Petersen Brothers Inc. in the <br />amount of $1,382,410.93. <br />Federal Funding has been secured through the Highway Safety <br />Improvement Program at 100 percent. The anticipated start of <br />construction is October 2025. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution to Award the Contract for the <br />Huntzinger Road Safety Improvements — Phase 1 Project (CRP <br />318-23) and Authorize the Public Works Director to execute the <br />same. <br />HANDLING: Return one (1) copy to Public Works. <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution with Bid Tab. <br />LEAD STAFF: Darren Case, Construction Manager <br />
