The Fair Family Pack has increased
in value due to rising costs of included items, making a price adjustment
to this promotional offer appropriate. Additionally, implementing a
higher admission fee during the Fair encourages attendees to purchase
tickets in advance, which helps reduce processing fees and minimizes
costs for ticket sellers.
RV site rates have remained unchanged for the past 12 years, even
though the value of the included parking pass has doubled to $100 with
the introduction of Premium Parking in 2024. Furthermore, RV park
operational costs have nearly doubled over the last decade, reinforcing
the need for a rate adjustment.
An increase in the late entry fee is also recommended to encourage
timely entries. The volume of late submissions has grown to the point of
overwhelming the Fair office, negatively impacting other critical fair
preparation work. The timing of the last review or update of this fee is
unclear, indicating the need for reassessment.
The Kittitas County Fair Board has also explored the potential benefits of
offering free admission on Monday of the Fair —a historically low -
attendance day. A free admission incentive is expected to boost
attendance, reduce staffing needs for ticketing, and increase vendor and
carnival commissions, making the day more financially beneficial
overall. This change would also provide added value for our event
partners by enhancing foot traffic and engagement.
INTERACTION: Board of County Commissioners
Kittitas Valley Event Center
Kittitas County Fair Board
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the BOCC Approve a Resolution to Adopt
Amendments to the Rates at the Kittitas County Fair.
