BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />COUNTY OF KITTITAS <br />STATE OF WASHINGTON <br /> <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: March 18, 2025 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Direct the Treasurer to Cancel Taxes Upon Expired Parcel <br />#954845. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: The Treasurer’s office has found that during a software <br />migration in 2014, a parcel that was inactivated for a <br />binding site plan was approved while taxes were still <br />owed. In subsequent years, that parcel and those <br />outstanding taxes were not extended on the tax rolls. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: Multiple attempts were made to contact the original <br />owners of the property and, in all cases, the Treasurer’s <br />inquiries were returned or unanswered. <br /> <br />Consultation with our DPA found that RCW 84.48.065 is <br />relevant to this situation and gives guidance that these <br />taxes may be cancelled due to erroneous clerical errors in <br />extending the rolls. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: Review the proposed Resolution and adopt it as written. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENT: Proposed Resolution <br /> Exhibit A – Uncollected Real Property Taxes <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Lisa Murray, Kittitas County Treasurer’s Office
