KITTITAS COUNTY <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT SERVICES <br />AGENDA ITEM STAFF REPORT <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: March 4 th, 2025 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Set a Public Hearing for March 18 th, 2025, at 2:00 pm <br />for the Board of County Commissioners to Implement New Code <br />Language Per Senate Bill 5290. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: CDS staff is requesting a public hearing for March 18 th, at 2:00 p.m. <br />for the Board of County Commissioners to implement Senate Bill 5290 to <br />modernize and streamline local development project review. The County <br />Commissioners had informal discussions regarding Senate Bill 5290 at a <br />Study Session held on December 23, 2024. The Notice of Intent was issued <br />to the WA ST Dept. of Commerce ending on March 3rd, 2025. The County <br />Planning Commission held a meeting to discuss the changes to county <br />code pursuant to Senate Bill 5290 on January 14th, 2025, and again on <br />February 11th, 2025 to ensure all regulatory procedures are met. The <br />Planning Commission recommended approval to the Board of County <br />Commissioners. <br /> <br /> A staff report and resolution will be provided prior to the public <br />hearing. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: Set a Public Hearing for March 18th, at 2:00 pm to Consider <br />Implementation of New Code Language Per Senate Bill 5290. <br /> <br />HANDLING: Return one Notice of Public Hearing to Community Development <br />Services. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: None <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Chad Bala, Director <br />
